Progression Desktop Version 1.x had a PNP file limit of 2GB. Progression Desktop Version 2.0’s support for spanning allows migrations of unlimited size. We recommend you upgrade if you are using Version 1.x and experiencing this limitation.
The amount of data that you move will influence the amount of time it takes Progression Desktop to complete the store operation. In particular, if you have chosen to store settings from many applications and chosen to move a large number of files, the store operation will take some time to complete. However, there is a known issue where by Progression Desktop may cycle for a long time on the ‘Storing Files’ operation even in the case where small amounts of settings and data are being stored. Progression Desktop properly generates the PNP file and successfully completes the store operation but the program appears ‘stuck’ while ‘Storing Files’.
If you see this condition, you can work around it by:
- Use the Windows file manager to verify that the .PNP file has been generated and saved in its proper location. If you find the .PNP and Progression Desktop continues to cycle on the ‘Storing Files’ operation, you can select Cancel on the ‘Storing Settings’ screen and proceed with the migration. If you cannot find the .PNP file, this is an indication that the store operation is not complete and you should wait for the program to complete. You may also work around the problem by selecting Cancel on the ‘Storing Settings’ screen and restarting the store process.
If email settings are migrated properly but no email is migrated, there may be a problem with the Outlook .PST file. Under certain circumstances, Progression Desktop will not store any email messages if the Outlook .PST file is in a damaged state. Even though there may be no visible problems viewing or sending email from within Outlook, the PST may contain bad records. Microsoft Office provides a tool for repairing damaged .PST files. Please see this Microsoft Knowledgebase article for details on how to find and run the tool.
After repairing the Outlook .PST files, rerun Progression Desktop following the instructions in the Users Guide. If email still fails to migrate, please contact Versora Technical Support.
It is necessary to log out and log back into your account in order for Konqueror to load your migrated bookmarks.
Because Progression Desktop supports multiple platform, the installation CD includes autorun.inf to initiate the setup automatically on Windows. Crossover sees the autorun.inf and invokes the Windows Setup program.
To work around this problem, Select Cancel on the Progression Desktop Setup dialog box, then select Finish on the the Crossover Installation Wizard. Consult the QuickStart.pdf on the Progression Desktop CD for detailed instructions on using Progression Desktop on the Linux Desktop.
